What's it like to be a Client Side Project Manager?
A Client Side Project Manager works on behalf of the client or end-user, and supervises their projects from start to finish. Their aim is to meet the clients' project goals, remain within the budget and deliver on quality. This can involve overseeing the selection of vendors, managing resources, ensuring timely delivery and coordinating with various stakeholders, including contractors, architects and suppliers. Their work often takes place across industries like construction, consulting, IT and engineering. While they might primarily be based in an office, site visits are a regular aspect of the job to verify progress and quality.
Tasks and duties
- Overseeing all aspects of client-facing projects from beginning to end.
- Collaborating with internal teams to design, develop and implement project plans.
- Assessing risks and issues and providing solutions to meet productivity, quality and client-satisfaction goals.
- Managing the relationship with the client and all stakeholders involved in the project.
- Performing quality control throughout a project to maintain the expected standards.
- Creating detailed project reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presenting them to upper management.
- Tracking project progress and adjusting necessary resources and priorities to meet deadlines.
