What's it like to be a Compliance Manager?
A Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that an organisation's operations and conduct meet the legal standards and policies both internally and externally. Tasks often include developing internal controls, reviewing and evaluating compliance procedures and that all employees are educated on the latest regulations and processes. They may work across a range of sectors including finance, healthcare and manufacturing. The role requires strategic thinking, the ability to interpret complex legal requirements and a high degree of understanding of organisational operations and procedures.
Tasks and duties
- Developing and implementing programs to ensure a company is in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Interpreting regulations and advising a company on how to meet compliance standards and avoid violations.
- Identifying possible areas of non-compliance and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Providing training and guidance to employees on compliance related matters to ensure they perform their duties in accordance with regulations.
- Maintaining documentation of all compliance activities, such as issue tracking and resolution to assist in potential audits.
- Liaising with regulatory bodies to keep abreast of changes and informing a company about updates as required.
- Overseeing internal investigations into compliance issues and submitting reports to management.
