What's it like to be an Engineering Lead?
An Engineering Lead is responsible for overseeing a team of engineers in the development and implementation of various projects within an organisation. This role involves both technical and managerial duties, such as drafting blueprints, making sure all designs meet legal guidelines and safety requirements, and providing guidance and mentorship to other engineers in their team. An Engineering Lead may design and inspect projects, manage annual budgets and maintain equipment. Tasks and duties
- Leading an engineering team to ensure high quality solutions are delivered on time.
- Coordinating with other departments and teams to establish project goals and deliverables.
- Implementing cost-effective, innovative engineering strategies to resolve challenges and meet project requirements.
- Conducting detailed feasibility studies for proposed equipment and systems.
- Guiding and mentoring team members on their technical tasks and responsibilities.
- Keeping up-to-date with current trends and best practices in engineering for continuous improvement.
- Managing miscellaneous technical documentation and ensuring all engineering activities comply with legislative requirements.
