What's it like to be a Marketing Executive?
Marketing Executives develop and execute marketing campaigns. They conduct market research, create marketing content, manage supplier and client relationships, and track and analyse the performance of campaigns. A Marketing Executive’s role is varied and requires a broad set of skills including researching, writing, reporting and data analysis. They often report to Marketing Managers who they assist with creating high-level marketing strategies.
Tasks and duties
- Developing and overseeing marketing campaigns.
- Creating and distributing marketing collateral.
- Conducting market research activities.
- Copywriting and proofreading.
- Performing data entry and analysis.
- Reporting on key metrics.
- Managing social media accounts.
- Attending client meetings, including taking briefs and incorporating feedback.
- Supporting a Marketing Manager or Director with campaigns.
How to become a Marketing Executive
You usually need a marketing qualification to become a Marketing Executive.
- 1.
Complete a commerce or business degree majoring in marketing. This usually takes three years of full-time study.

Secure an internship to build experience. Alternatively, you could develop experience in an entry-level marketing role. You could start off as a Marketing Coordinator.

With several years of experience across one or more roles, you could progress into a Senior Marketing Executive, Marketing Manager or Chief Marketing Officer role.
