What's it like to be a Planner?
Planners are professionals who assist in the management and development of land use in urban, suburban and rural settings. Tasks and duties
- Researching, compiling and analysing data on economic, social and physical factors affecting land use.
- Developing urban planning policies to guide and manage future growth and development.
- Consulting with stakeholders and communities about proposals and projects.
- Preparing zoning plans for land use, taking into consideration environmental constraints and regulations.
- Evaluating proposals to ensure they fit with sustainability and development policies.
- Presenting projects to governmental boards and the public, explaining the benefits and addressing concerns.
- Coordinating work with economic consultants and architects during planning, design and approval stages.
