What's it like to be an Anaesthetic Technician?
An Anaesthetic Technician prepares and maintains anaesthetic equipment for surgeries and other medical procedures. They assist the Anaesthetist before, during, and after anaesthesia administration, ensuring patient safety and comfort. They also manage the supply of anaesthetic and medical gases and respond to emergency situations in the operating room.Tasks and duties
- Setting up, checking and maintaining anaesthetic equipment, life support machines and associated equipment.
- Ordering and preparing medical supplies for anaesthesia.
- Discussing medical procedures with patients and finding out their medical histories.
- Assisting the Anaesthetist to administer anaesthesia.
- Monitoring and recording patients and their vital signs before, during and after medical procedures.
- Assisting with basic life support and post-operative care.
- Assisting the Anaesthetist in emergencies.
