What's it like to be a Principal?
A Principal serves as the leader of a school, setting educational goals, working with teachers to improve curriculum and teaching practices, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment for students. They also handle administrative tasks, such as budgeting, scheduling, and managing school personnel. As the face of the school, they communicate with parents, teachers, and the community about school performance and needs.Tasks and duties
- Recruiting and training teachers.
- Managing the administrative and financial affairs of a school.
- Establishing policy and procedure guidelines in conjunction with the school council.
- Liaising with other schools, parents, and the wider community.
- Implementing systems and procedures to check school performance and student enrolments.
- Supervising the maintenance of school facilities to provide a safe working environment for staff and students.
- Creating a standardised disciplinary code for the school and enforcing discipline within the school.
- Networking with other schools in the area and attending meetings and conferences.
- Working with teachers and staff to plan and oversee educational curriculum that adheres to standards set by local and state governments.
