What's it like to be a Legal Assistant?
A Legal Assistant, often called a Paralegal, supports Lawyers by managing case files, conducting legal research, and drafting documents. They help Lawyers prepare for court proceedings by maintaining and organising files, coordinating with witnesses, and handling any necessary paperwork. They must be detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of legal procedures and terminology.Tasks and duties
- Answering client enquiries, filing paperwork and taking notes in meetings.
- Curating, analysing and organising information.
- Collecting and recording evidence exhibits.
- Searching legal records in databases.
- Preparing legal document drafts ready for a senior team member to finalise.
- Supporting the legal team at hearings.
- Tracking hours and billing clients.
- General office administrative duties.
